What to Wear: Between Seasons

With the weather being all over the place, one day it's -4 and the next day it's 30, it can be hard to find pieces that work for both. So, here are a couple of my favorites for the transition from Winter to Spring:

Enza Costa Cuffed Crew Neck Top

I love this top because of the thumb holes. It makes it easy to keep the sleeves down while typing on the computer. Plus, the cashmere makes it so soft!

Splendid Layers Long Sleeve Tee
This top is great if you work in an office like mine, and you never know what the temperature is going to be. One day it will be 65 and sweating, then next you're wrapped up in a blanket, shivering. These tee's are not only super soft, but they are thin. Easy for layering and or to wear on it's own on a warm day.

Madewell Star Pullover
I have a thing for star prints. I happen to be wearing one right now. The thing I love about Madewell is that they are super affordable. I think this is a great sweater to dress up with a mustard pencil skirt or down with a pair of casual jeans.

I hope this gives you some ideas for transition pieces. If you live somewhere like Wisconsin, you never know what the weather is going to be like!

Fall Inspiration

Something many people may not know about Wisconsin, we are one of the few places that actually really experience all four season. Now that Fall is here, this means layers, layers and more layers! Because the hours I've been working, I haven't had a chance to take a whole lot of outfit pictures lately.  So today I leave you with some outfit inspiration courtesy of Pinterest.

Glamural: Fall Leather

Glamural: Fall Leather

I'm really inspired by leather right now. I love mixing it with soft, girly fabrics and patterns. I have a pair of (faux) leather leggings that I want to wear every day, and I've been wearing my (again, faux) leather jacket over every dress I own. One day I'll afford real (or super nice faux) leather.

What are you currently loving?

Fall Fashion: Shoes

In the fashion world, fall has officially started. While I agree it's difficult to look at jeans and sweaters when it's still 90 degrees outside, one thing I can start looking for is shoes. Since I work at ALDO, I've been getting to see all the new fall shoes coming in, and I have to say I have no idea how I'm going to make any money for the next few months. Here are a few that are on my list:

The Heel: Romelia

A classic pump that comes in nude, purple, black and animal print, but I'm rather partial to the red. The heel isn't over the top and the pointed toe is so in right now.

The Flat: Corinette
This one also comes in white with gold studs and in black with silver studs. I really can't decide which ones I like the most, but I'll probably have to go with the nude ones because I think they'll match more things.

The Bootie: Brotzman
When it comes to animal print, this is much more my style-just a touch. I love the contrast and the thickness of the heel. I would wear these with everything, from dresses with lace tights to skinny jeans with a leather jacket.

The Boot: Aukes

These beauties come in brown and black, but I'm completely in love with the forest green. I have a pair of boots similar to this in black and I wear them with the top folded over, which is how I would probably wear these.

All these shoes (and so many more!) can be found on the ALDO website. What are you looking to wear on your feet this fall?

Inspiration: Fall Fashion 2012

With August right around the corner, the one thing on everyone's mind is: "What's going to be the look for this fall?" (Well maybe not everyone, but at least everyone reading this I would think.) After hours and hours of slaving away on the computer (not true at all), I noticed that everyone is saying different things. But I did find a few that were common between most of the websites I've been reading.

Winter Whites...in the Fall
Source
I'm not sure how I feel about wearing white in the fall. Something about fall says browns and oranges more than crisp, clean whites to me. But maybe if it's more of an off-white, I can see how it would work. It does make for a great transition piece into winter.

From the Wilderness to the Runway
Source
I believe that each season needs to have some trends that are ultimately the same each year, otherwise we'd have nothing to look forward to. This is one of those looks that I feel like I can only embrace in the fall. I've never been a country girl, but I love fall outdoors-y looks. Does that make me a phony?

Modern Military
Source
Military themed is a little guilty pleasure of mine...on everyone else. I've never been able to successfully execute this look, but some women can really pull it off. I love the earth-tone colors mixed with the structure. And those big, brass buttons!

In addition to these trends, I've been seeing a lot of red, peter pan collars, and cozy sweaters (of course!). I don't know about you, but I am completely ready for fall! What trends are you looking forward to?

Glamural: Studs

Well, I know it's been a while, but I think I'm finally back! And what better way than to start with a Glamural! Here is what I'm currently loving:

Glamural: Studs

Since the red has pretty much faded out of my hair, and I'm now considered a blonde (for the first time since I was 6), I have become obsessed (again) with studs and looking badass a la Taylor Momsen in her early days.

What do you think of this look? Would you rock it?

Glamural: Summer Whites

Because of my lack of outfit posts (due to spending my time in the basement going through boxes and such), I decided it was time for another Glamural!

Glamural: Summer Whites

Right now I am currently loving all white outfits. Monochrome scares me a little, but I think this would be a great way to break into the trend. It's clean and crisp, and it just screams summer!
Have you tried a monochrome outfit? Have you tried all white?

The Kate Factor: Kate Hudson

Time for another Kate-inspiration! I know I know, it's been months since my last (first) Kate Factor. I was beginning to forget about it!
So, today I am doing Kate Hudson. She is my other favorite Kate. She is most famous for her roles in Almost Famous, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and my personal favorite, Bride Wars. Kate Hudson is most often seen wearing very boho chic, casual outfits. She sticks to neutral colors and flared jeans.

My inspiration:

 My interpretation:

Sweater: Maurice's // Tank (Both): Wet Seal // Jeans: American Eagle // Belt: Charlotte Russe // Shoes: Kmart // Necklace: Lia Sophia
Boho chic used to be "my look". I've always loved browns and greens and lots of jewelry, etc. When I cut my hair I felt like I couldn't really pull it off anymore, but I'm realizing that may not be the case. So, thank you, Kate Hudson, for convincing me to try again and falling back in love with some things in my closet.

Glamural: Betsey Johnson

Glamural: Betsey Johnson
I have always loved Betsey Johnson's line. Her style is so fun and over the top and I have been building a collection of her items. I love how she mixes girly, floral pieces with edgier things like skulls and studs. (I feel like I've said that before...) Although most of her line is a bit out of my budget right now, I use her as inspiration for my outfits all the time, like my outfit post from yesterday. Is there a designer you identify with?

Inspiration: Taylor Momsen

Source
Tomorrow, Garrett and I are going to see The Pretty Reckless in concert. If I had to name my top four favorite artists, they would be right up there. (In no particular order: Paramore, Kate Voegele, She & Him, The Pretty Reckless) TPR is more on the edgy side and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity broaden my horizons a little in fashion.

Source
Let me make something clear right away. I in no way, shape, or form agree with Taylor Momsen's attitude and the way she lives her life, but I also don't believe in judging an artist if the music is good. What she does in her own time is her choice, I have no opinion on the matter. (Well I do, but it's irrelevant here.)
I also don't think her style choices are really appropriate for life in general (no, stockings and a garter belt do not count as pants), but that is why we call them fashion inspiration, not "fashion I want to copy exactly". (You are more the welcome to google her outfit choices in more recent times, I won't be posting them on here.)

Source
That being said, I still haven't decided what I'm wearing tomorrow so I turned to Pinterest (of course!) for inspiration. Taylor Momsen's last year on Gossip Girl would be my favorite look of her's. Very edgy/rock n' roll but still put together and a little glammed up. A few things I found:

I am having fun playing dress-up in my closet and trying some outfits I wouldn't normally wear. Who knows, maybe the rock n' roll look will work for me and I'll just start doing it full time! (Joke.)

Blogging Vacation

Tank: H&M // Brown Tank: Wet Seal // Jeans: Urban Outfitters // Shoes: Target // Watch: Betsey Johnson // Earrings: Forever 21
Last week, I decided to take a short blogging-and-social-media vacation. Which, of course, when I came back yesterday I had over 200 unread posts on bloglovin' and a lot more spam mail in one of my inboxes. Anyways, I really wanted to step away from the computer a bit and think about what I really want out of my blog. What do I hope to accomplish on here? Sometimes you have to just step away from the computer and go back to the good ole pen and paper for inspiration, which is what I'm planning on doing. (This idea stemmed from this article by Promise.)

On a more fashion-related note, these jeans are the bee's knees (yes, I just said that)! I want to wear them all the time, everyday. The only thing holding me back is the fear of losing the surprise element when I put them on and you realize exactly how bright they are.

My Mom, the Trendsetter

Shirt: Wal-Mart // Jeans: Target // Tank: Walmart // Shoes: Target // Purse: Jason Wu for Target // Watch: Betsey Johnson
I just realized that my outfit is a department store dream. Ha.

My mom is a trendsetter and she doesn't even know it. Growing up, on weekends I always found my mom wearing jeans and a lighter shade, denim button-up shirt. I never thought of this as "stylish" or even thought much of it at all. It was just her casual wear. Little did I know, she was way ahead of the game because look at me now, wearing jeans and a lighter shade, denim button-up shirt. Lesson learned: listen to your mother.

Glamural: Kate Spade

After seeing some photos from Kate Spade in NYFW, I hopped on over to katespade.com to check out everything on her website. I had (obviously) heard of Kate Spade before, but I never really paid attention to her clothes. Can I just say, I totally fell in love! (I know, who hasn't.) So, this glamural is dedicated to her.

I love the colors and patterns! I also love all the sayings! "Play hooky" and "Eat cake for breakfast" are two of my favorites. "Start each day like it's your birthday" is my background on my computer right now, with my birthday being less than a week away and all! And I love love love the telephone Iphone case, but I need an Iphone first. Haha.

My Interpretation of My Time In Stevens Point

Skirt: Handmade // Sweater: Aero // Belt: Charlotte Russe // Tights: Target // Shoes: Urban Outfitters
I call this skirt "my interpretation of my time spent in Stevens Point". I was at a thrift store last Saturday and I saw this material there for $1. I decided it was awful and awesome at the same time. If I were to ever go hunting (hahahahaha), this is what I would look like. I even remembered the orange.

Mirror, Mirror

Sweater: Thrifted // Dress: Wet Seal // Belt: Thrifted // Tights: Target // Shoes: Payless
Snow White is nowhere near my favorite princess (Belle is, with Ariel close behind), but with, I believe, two movies coming out soon and the show Once Upon A Time, Snow White is pretty big right now. So I took a page out of DisneyBound's book and put together my own Snow White inspired outfit. This is one of my favorite blogs to browse through, being such a big Disney fan myself.
I'm all about Disney princess movies being remade into more modern movies, but when are they going to do a Beauty and the Beast one? Because Beastly was a rather poor attempt.

What is your favorite Disney character? Would you dress like them?
